INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY

Therapy offers a safe, non-judgmental space to share whatever’s on your mind. Whether you’re seeking focused short-term work or longer-term insight-oriented therapy, together we’ll create the right approach to address your concerns, needs and struggles. I feel it’s a privilege to be invited into clients’ lives and I take my field’s professional guidelines of confidentiality, integrity and continuing education very seriously.

COUPLES/MARITAL COUNSELING

My work with couples is extremely important and rewarding for my clients and me. Our intimate relationships are central to feeling understood and accepted for who we truly are, so it makes perfect sense that conflict, infidelity (of all sorts), constant tension or the pursuit/withdrawal dance can rattle our sense of safety, attachment and security. Though each couple’s problems feel entirely unique, there are themes, evident in many relationships, which, once identified and processed, can allow deep healing and reconnection.

EMOTIONALLY FOCUSED THERAPY (EFT)

A highly effective approach to helping couples in distress. Based on John Bowlby’s Attachment Theory, EFT allows couples to repair their relationship and restore connection and intimacy.

MINDFULNESS

Drawing on the groundbreaking work of Jon Kabat Zinn, mindfulness teaches us to pay attention, non-judgmentally, to the present moment. Focusing on the breath and body fosters peace of mind and reduces physical and emotional pain.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT)

A psychotherapy technique, grounded in the here and now, which challenges negative patterns of thought to alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety and other ailments. Numerous studies have demonstrated the efficacy of this form of treatment.

BEREAVEMENT, GRIEF AND COMPLICATED GRIEF

Bereavement is the reaction to any major loss – one’s health, a job, financial security. Grief is the natural response to the loss of a loved one. Complicated Grief is a persistent, intense sadness that interferes with thoughts, behaviors, emotional regulation and functioning. Complicated Grief Treatment (CGT) helps to get the grieving process ‘unstuck’ so adjustment and adaptation is possible. Therapy can help patients process the feelings around all these seismic shifts so they can rediscover meaning and joy in life.

FOCUSING

A body-oriented approach enabling greater self-awareness and emotional healing. Focusing is a powerful tool for relaxation and an effective addition to psychotherapy.
